LOOKING GLASS // LOVER: 'PERSONA'

Lover will forever be a favourite label of mine, come rain, hail or shine. Their stellar spring 12/13 collection, entitled 'Persona' seems to encapsulate for me the quintessential 'Lover ladies' that have echoed through the collections from the beginning; the Lolita you see reading Jane Austen in the park; hair in braids wrapped across her head, denim pinafore, a straw basket and a bunch of white peonies clung to her shadow... The nonchalant, ethereal beauty bathed in a halo of light pouring from the stage, swaying cream silk to the beat of folk music...  The wryly, wild spirit, serpent underneath, black laced, red lipped, conjuring moonbeams and speaking in tongues...  The label, self described as 'the same album, different songs', stays true to their recognizable vision season after season, yet still maintains an element of surprise... ie, my reaction to the most recent collection "Wow! (I want it all)". With the opening of their new flagship store in The Strand, which I am planning a visit to ever so soonly, I am sure Lover will keep climbing the stairway to heaven. Here are a few of my favourite looks...

I am really loving cette chanson at the moment. She is so damn cute! I just love the Celebrity Squares meets Sanremo song contest vibe going on. And even though it is Italian, you seem to totally get what she's saying. Right? 

LOOKING GLASS // ELLERY & THE COAT REVIEW

I wish there were still a few months of winter left. I seem to always settle into the wonders that are winter all a bit too late; cocooning myself in coats and scarfs to fight the frost has only just become something I embrace in the morning, knowing that a soft, mild sun will melt it all away. I still haven't found the 'perfect coat' yet, well in truth I have but I am resisting with all my might on account of it's foul price-tag... I have decided coats are something you can buy all year round, as long as you opt for classic shapes and textures that will transcend the seasons - the other awesome thing is there's always a bargain to be had when purchasing coats off-season! 

I've just had a peek at Ellery's spring collection and it is rather fantastical. The coat in the second image is where it is at (despite it not being one of those off-season-bargains) as well as the printed palazzo pants and that burnt orange! Gosh, Ellery seems to just keep getting better and better. I can see this coat working with perfect simplicity, it looks like the kind of coat you could trust as a most faithful friend and that's what we all need right?
