A SWEDISH LOVE STORY 1969

Roy Andersson is the king of Swedish advertising, yet every decade or so, he adds a feature length film to his inventory. Long shots with slow developing action and sets crowded with people painted with unforgiving deadpan expressions watching scenes of horror unveil before them dominate his films. Dark comedy is his forte, not to mention is apt for exposing what others wouldn't. A Swedish Love Story, Andersson's first 1969 feature debut, explores young love in an adult world. Stylistically this film is a dream, it's daring and rebellious charm make me want to slip back in time and cry over bad boys.
